Sports journalism used to have very few women covering men’s professional athletics. Fortunately that’s changed and we’re seeing talented women interviewing some of the top stars in every sport. One of the trailblazers who helped make this possible was Susan Fornoff.
In this audio book version of Fornoff’s book of the same name, Lani Minella narrates Fornoff’s experiences reporting on the Oakland Athletics. While she definitely covers some of the sexism occurring in locker rooms, she also provides fascinating insights on superstars playing during her years of reporting. Stories include anecdotes about Jose Canseco, Dave Stewart, and Dennis Eckersley, among many others.
If you’re a fan of sports journalism or just looking for a different take on baseball while you’re waiting for the season to start, this audio book is worth a listen.
