Wilmington Blue Rocks 2 Winston-Salem Dash 1
Solid pitching in Wilmington as Elisaul Pimentel and Matt Ridings combined for nine innings of one run ball. Â Pimentel got things started allowing just two hits in in five innings while striking out six and walking two but taking a no decision when his offense couldn’t help him out. Â Ridings entered a 0-0 game thanks to good pitching from Dash starter Erik Johnson and a home run allowed by Matt in the 7th would put the Rocks down 1-0. Â That lead would hold up until two down in the bottom of the 9th when the Rocks got a single from Juan Graterol, moved their pinch runner Luis Piterson to second on a wild pitch and scored him on a fielding error by Dash center fielder Trayce Thompson. Â With the game tied and Murray Watts on 2nd following a walk to new Rock Chris Elder Wilmington middle infielder Angel Franco would come through with a walkoff double to score Watts and put Wilmington back into first place.

Kane County Cougars 5 Cedar Rapids Kernals 0
A trip to the hospital is rarely good but if the results of Tuesday nights start for Kyle Smith are an indication perhaps it helped the Cougars starter out. Â The Florida high school draftee was absolutely dominating against Cedar Rapids on this night striking out 12 hitters in seven innings, earning seven groundouts to just one flyout and shutting out the Kernals on just 3 hits. Â The 12 K’s are a new career high for Smith in his short career, he had scored 11 in his career opener in Idaho earlier this season. Â With a shut out behind them it made the Cougars offenses job much easier to earn a win and third baseman Daniel Mateo was up to the task accounting for all five of the Cougars runs with two runs scored and three driven in two of which came on his 8th inning triple.

Idaho Falls Chukars 7 Ogden Raptors 1
Idaho Falls lefty Sam Selman is probably too good for the Pioneer league and proved it again on Tuesday night. Â Coming into the game Sam’s 12.63 K/9 lead Pioneer League pitchers with at least 30 Innings (starters) and he did nothing to diminish that stat, striking out 11 in his 5 innings of work in route to a easy Chukars win. Â Of his 11 strikeouts, ten were swinging while walking two and allowing just one hit prior to leaving with a big lead. Â The Chukars offense created that lead with seven runs in the first two innings getting three doubles in the first to score three and four consecutive singles in the 2nd as part of a four run inning. Â The win maintained Idaho Falls 2nd place spot in the division, a game back of Orem.
