Royals sign 24 year old Cuban OF
The Royals signed 24* year old Cuban defector Roman Hernandez Jorrin ….we will try and find more info on him but reports say he is an athletic OF with plenty of upside and has played well against older competition
I was told privately OTR he really is 24 not 22 as reported…..but it seems that now he is being listed at 24…so all is good here
First report I was tweeted privately by someone who has seen him play:Â Good power, average speed, above avg arm..source says he had a 750K offer from Indians….it is important to note that nothing is ever official when it comes to international players and their reps with prices…a lot of big talk that sometimes is exaggerated
*i have been told the Royal signed him for 550,000
More pm’s from source “arm is no joke, 6.7 6.8 60 speed has been in DR for over a year though…5’11ish will probably say 6’1 though…probably corner OF not enough speed for your boys to play him in center….(even though there is always exaggeration) would be surprised if KC didn’t pay north of 750k

Seems a touch odd at that age for the price, do you see him as organizational depth or Wil Myers insurance?

I would say a lot more towards Prades …..

Greg do you think this signing is more similar to Orlando Calixte or Yem Prades? I want to say Calixte because: both players floated around for a year or so maybe more before signing, money, and it seems like Hernandez has a good skill set like him as well.
