Jason Adam

RHP 6’4 220 lbs
8/4/91
2010 Draft 5th Rd ($800,000)

Fastball: 91-93 mph have seen it touch 94. Gets good plane by using his natural long levers. Will need to improve command in to Righties. Grades out as an average pitch. (50)

Curveball: 75-78mpH. 11-5 shape with sharp downward movement. Throws it to glove side and lets it break down out of the zone for his out pitch. Grades out as a solid average pitch. (55)

Change up: 82-84 mpH. throws with good arm speed and gets tumbling action. Needs to develop more confidence in this pitch. Has flashed plus for me early in the season but grades out more likely as an average pitch (50)

Other Notes: Good defender, Athletic Build, Ideal body, and Fantastic Makeup good person to have on the team.

Best Case Scenario: He figures out how to use all three pitches, squeezes a mile or two per hour more on the fastball, and commands all of his pitches. This would let him be a Mid Rotation Starter to me.

Mort’s Projection: Jason Adam will be a backend starter in the major leagues. He won’t be someone who you will build your rotation around, but he will be a valuable player to have on the team. Look for him in the big leagues in 2015.

Elisaul Pimentel

Elisaul Pimentel

RHP 6’2 170 lbs

7/10/88 - International Free Agent Signed by the Los Angeles Dodgers. Acquired in the Scott Podsednik trade.

Fastball: 90-92mpH. Gets small armside run and sink. It’s an average offering. (50)

Slider: 83-85mpH. Sharp breaking with depth. Throws only to Gloveside. Against lefties he throws to backfoot not backdoor. Potential to be a solid average pitch (55)

Change up: 83-84 doesn’t throw very often. Pitch had some sink on it. (N/A)

Other Notes: Question his makeup on the mound shows visible frustration on the mound.

Best Case Scenario: Slider is a good pitch, and he could rely on that to get people out. He could be a guy who provides organizational pitching depth.

Mort’s Projection: Elisaul Pimentel is a prospect who has gone backward. After getting beat up in AA this year coming back to the Carolina League hasn’t been all that great for him. He will eventually go to the pen and we’ll see. I doubt he gets above AA.

Clint Scoles

I grew up on the mean gravel roads of Iowa where I started my love for baseball from the age of 2. George Brett and the voice of Denny Matthews deepened my love even more for the Royals as my father and I spent summers listening to the team on our deck or in the car on our way to or from my little league and high school games. Sports was always the common bond that my father and I enjoyed and the Royals were in the center of that. I currently live in La Vista with my wife, two sons, two dogs and a pair of gross cats where we are grinding through until we can move somewhere warm when we retire. I own Casino Cab Company and Bluffs Affordable Auto Repair in Council Bluffs trying to build my 1% empire. If you are in the area you can find me at Omaha Storm Chasers games on most nights or just follow me on twitter @ClintScoles.

Good stuff Zach very thorough……1 thought, J Adam will probably start throwing a slider in AA….have you seen him flash it at all in Wilm? The slider could change the projection for him….
